Edited photo of an old clock with mercury pendulum.

The mercury pendulum (synonym Graham’s compensation pendulum) based on the same principle and uses the large thermal expansion and density of mercury. The 1726 was developed by Englishman George Graham model had a pendulum an open-topped, filled with mercury tube. The large thermal expansion and the strong reaction of the mercury to temperature changes has been used in watchmaking, to increase the time quite inaccurate clocks in their accuracy.
